Coming to Steam
Read the chart.Survive the set.
A sightreading game for electronic drum kits. Real engraved notation, played on your own pads over MIDI, with timing feedback on every hit.
Engraved by the game itself. Full-kit reading, with a fill that ends on a crash.
The one rule
Read real
drum notation.
Beatspan prints real drum notation. Learn its vocabulary, read ahead, and put the chart under your hands.
Snare reading. Ghost notes in parentheses, accents above. Every pattern a generated original.
Two ways to play
Survive it, or loop it.
Endless reading
Survival
Endless new bars, one flow bar. Misses and stray hits drain it, clean reading refills it, and the tempo climbs. You always see the next line, because reading ahead is the skill.
Chart display
Page or scroll
Read a still chart with the playhead sweeping across, like paper. Or let the engraved strip stream past a fixed playhead. Same notation either way.
Focused practice
Free play
One phrase on a loop, timed note by note, so you see which one you rush and by how much. Every pass starts clean.
Practice
It knows what you miss
Every note you play is filed under the one-beat figure it belongs to. Beatspan learns which figures and which limbs you miss, then writes more of them.
37 worlds. Five in the free demo.
From one quarter note to the whole chart.
Short lessons, each ending in a chart you have never seen. Start on the snare, add the kit a voice at a time, then learn the page itself: multi-bar rests, repeat endings, D.S. al Coda, slash bars and band cues.

Before you buy
Built for a kit. Plays on a keyboard.
Built for USB MIDI drum kits: an electronic kit, or pads that send MIDI. Full keyboard support, for reading away from the kit. Try the demo first. If it hears your pads, the game will.
